Interreg Baltic Sea Region Seed money is a concept to stimulate and enable new project ideas for cooperation across borders which are in line with the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR). The Programme opened its first seed money call from 21 September to 28 October 2016. By December, Policy Area and Horizontal Action Coordinators of the EUSBSR assessed draft applications for seed money projects and selected 36 applicants. These 36 applicants were invited to submit an application.
The involvement of the Policy Area and Horizontal Action Coordinators was vital because all seed money projects need to directly support the implementation of the EU Strategy, i.e. one of its three objectives: saving the sea, connecting the region or increasing prosperity.
The submission of the application via the online system, BAMOS, together with the submission of the documents by regular mail completes the application process. Now, the Managing Authority/Joint Secretariat starts the admissibility check and assessment. The Monitoring Committee selects projects for funding at the meeting on 23-24 May 2017 in Helsinki. The next call for Seed money is not planned to be launched before the end of 2017.
