On 25 September 2019, St. Petersburg welcomed more than 150 participants from the EU countries and Russia at the interactive event “Nature as our common treasure” held in the framework of the European Cooperation Day. Focusing on nature protection and sustainable environmental management, the event showcased how seamless cooperation across borders leads to developing joint solutions to common challenges.
Along with the two-third of Interreg Baltic Sea Region projects still ongoing, the preparations for the future programme 2021-2027 are already taking shape.
The Interreg Baltic Sea Region Monitoring Committee met in Potsdam on 25 September 2019 to exchange on the status of the Programme implementation, and to decide upon the allocation of the last tranche of funds available in this programming period.
Waste water treatment plants are transforming from energy consumers to energy producers thanks to new technologies, privatisation of public services and growing resource awareness. The Interreg project IWAMA enables regions and cities to make better use of their limited resources: its Baltic Smart Water Hub makes knowledge about relevant techniques available to plant operators and owners as well as researchers and university lecturers.
