21–25 Sep 2020
|Title||European Cooperation Day|
|Date||21 Sep 2020 0:00 - 25 Sep 2020 0:00|
|Organiser||Engaged people working in European cooperation|
Every year in September, people working in Interreg projects all across Europe organise events for citizens in order to commemorate the benefits of cooperation: film festivals, concerts, running races, local markets, gastronomic fairs… and more! We commemorate the European Cooperation Day (also known as “EC Day”) on 21 September every year but events take place also earlier and later.
This year, our projects participate in activities in the following countries:
The project BIS (Baltic Industrial Symbiosis) is presented in a Danish language exhibition about "30 years of Interreg". It will be presented in a number of places, including Sonderborg (University of Southern Denmark and shopping center Borgen) and the Regional Department of Zealand from 21 September onwards as well as virtual events by Interreg South Baltic (17 September) and Interreg North Sea Region (25 September).
The projects BSUIN, InnoCAPE and NovelBaltic are taking part in the exhibition "Innovation across borders" organised in Oulu, Finland, by five programmes: Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic, Baltic Sea Region, Interreg NORD as well as ENI cross-border cooperation programmes Karelia and Kolarctic. The exhibition held in the framwork of European Cooperation Day and 30 years of Interreg shows how cooperation makes our regions smarter and greener. It illustrates with concrete examples how working with partners in neighbouring regions benefits the research and business environment in each region, as well as it contributes to creating more sustainable communities.
You can visit the exhibition from 21 to 25 September 2020 during regular opening hours at Business Oulu, in Hallituskatu 36 A 90100 Oulu.

But why do we celebrate cooperation?
Europe is a mix of cultures and economies that need to understand each other in order to reach their maximum potential. For this reason, the European Union (EU) encourages cooperation, for example through funding projects involving regions all over Europe and neighboring countries. They have helped increase cultural understanding and overcome economic disparities throughout territories. Don’t you think this is a good reason to celebrate? With the “European Cooperation Day” campaign we would like to remind citizens that many good things come out when we join forces.
In the past editions, people cycled together, sang together, ate together, and in general had a wonderful time in each other’s company in hundreds of events organised by EU cooperation programmes in over 30 countries. Get active now and set up an event where you are based!
EC Day is a campaign run by INTERACT and you get promotion support in the form of a slogan, a video, EU quizzes and visual materials such as a logo and a poster template. It is important for good promotion that you add your event to the EC Day map.
