10–12 Sep 2018
|Title||26th BSSSC Annual Conference|
|Date||10 Sep 2018 18:00 - 12 Sep 2018 13:00|
|Organiser||Baltic Sea States Subregional Co-operation|
The Baltic Sea States Subregional Co-operation (BSSSC) is a political network for decentralised authorities (subregions) in the Baltic Sea Region. The network co-operates closely with other key Baltic Sea Region and European organisations and institutions. It represents the interests of the regions. The Annual Conference gathers participants from political and administrative levels (local, regional, national and EU levels) as well as representatives from academia, NGOs and the private sector from all eleven countries taking part in the Baltic Sea co-operation.
This year’s focus: Solidarity, participation and smart action for a better future
- Solidarity – in all its aspects: as an EU value that we have forgotten about to a great extent, and the result of implementing this value on the EU level is, for instance, cohesion policy.
- Participation - the global situation has changed so much that we have to redefine democratic models. There is a an urgent need to discuss democracy, especially with the youth, to involve them in a better way.
- Innovation - Being smart in all the social and economic spheres – a social innovation approach.
On day 2, projects funded by the BSR Interreg Programme (RDI2CluB, BalticRIM, MAMBA, LowTEMP, Smart-up BSR and Smart Blue Regions) will make predictions 20 years ahead and pass their messages to politicians.
